Millions Have NO Savings And Worry About Money - What Can You Do About It?

Millions Have NO Savings And Worry About Money - What Can You Do About It?

Millions of people have little or no savings and are worried about financial security.

In the UK, savers face an estimated savings shortfall of £371 billion to feel financially secure, according to a survey by the Yorkshire Building Society.

Most people are no more than a couple of salary cheques away from bankruptcy and are forced to borrow at high interest rates to cover a minor repair, holidays and Christmas.

Everyone wants to be financially free or just have a little more money coming in each month. The problem is they don’t know how.

If you are on a fixed salary your options can seem limited. You may have limited opportunities for promotion and starting a business can be expensive and risky.

But what if there was a way to earn extra money on the side, without leaving the security of your job or existing business.

Did you know that you can make money on social media instead of wasting time on it?

With millions more people turning to the internet to buy goods and services and hold meetings, there has never been a better time to make money online.

Internet transactions have reached record levels while traditional retail businesses are suffering. In the UK, more than 80% of department stores have closed down in the last five years with a further 240 standing empty.

Your Health Is Your Real Wealth, So If You Want To Be Truly Rich, Keep Fit

Welcome to Money Tips Daily this is Money Kelly bringing you money tips to help you save and make more money!

We know that we need good health to enjoy happy and fulfilled life, but do we need to be fit and healthy in order to become successful or wealthy?

Whilst there are always exceptions to the rule, 95% of successful people I have met and observed over the last 30 years in business have all kept fit and looked after their health.

The other 5% are invariably either burned-out, had a heart attack or are sadly no longer with us.

If you think of the wealthy and successful people you know, you generally find that they do something to keep themselves fit. It could be golf, going to the gym, swimming, hiking or playing a sport.

They are active physically and mentally, and often do something for their community.

I personally know several multi-millionaires who volunteer, give their time and donate their money to charitable causes and service clubs like Rotary.

Unfortunately, people at the lower end of the pay scale are more likely to be obese and suffer from more health problems, even though it costs nothing to take a 30 minute walk and less money to give up smoking and drinking. We know this from studies done in poorer parts of the country.

You might say, “well it’s alright for the rich, they have the time and money to go to the gym, hire personal trainers and pamper themselves”. But I would say the opposite is true.

Wealthy people who run businesses have less time. They have hectic schedules and work longer hours than the average person, just like I did when I did when I was in business. They have the same problems as the rest of us, but the difference is they manage their time and life.

Saying that you have no time to take part in physical activity is just as illogical as saying you have no time to eat or sleep. In other words, it’s a false economy and you will end up paying the ultimate price. In all of the above cases you will eventually get sick, burn out or die.

Make the time to do at least 30 minutes a day of some physical activity which increases your heart rate or makes you sweat. If you make the time to do this you will find that you have more time and energy to do the other things in your life.

You have to move to groove!

It takes a lot of energy and focus to be successful in any endeavour, so build up your store of energy by eating the right foods, getting a good night's sleep and exercising.

I was guilty of neglecting my health when I was running a business. I stopped exercising and eating properly and justified my behaviour by convincing myself that I was so busy with important work. But what’s more important than your health?

I now MAKE time to go to the gym or exercise

Eating late at night with a glass of wine, or two, didn’t help either. Over time, I started to put on weight and my clothes mysteriously started to shrink! I became less fit and had less energy to cope with the trials of the day.

How can you be motivated when your body feels tired or unhealthy? You can look in the mirror and try and convince yourself with affirmations like "I feel terrific", but if your body is answering you back with "I feel like crap", you're not fooling anyone!

Eventually, I saw that what I was doing was foolish and changed my habits. It takes at least 4 - 6 weeks to change a habit by daily actions, but after that it becomes easier.

I now MAKE time to go to the gym and whenever possible I walk and climb stairs rather than taking the lift. I have also cut back on drinking and try to eat a balanced diet.

As a result, I’ve lost around 5 kilos; I feel a lot more energetic and can even get back into my old Levis again!

And when I feel better, guess what? I have more motivation to do the things I want to do and finish those ‘projects’ we all have, like my forthcoming book, Yes, Money Can Buy You Happiness, which will be published soon after many years as a 'work in progress'.

Your health is your real wealth, don’t neglect it, because when it’s gone you seldom get it back.

How to Monetise Your Knowledge and Skills and Turn Passion into Profits

Welcome to Money Tips Daily, this is Money Kelly bringing you money tips to help you save and make more money!

Yesterday, I went through the money B.E.L.I.E.F system and I said that we all have talents and unique specialised knowledge that we can monetise in some way.

Did you know that you are sitting on a potential goldmine, situated right between your ears? It’s called your ‘intellectual property’ (IP) and it’s where the real money’s made long after the product has been created.

The renowned author and speaker, Tom Hopkins, said “You are your greatest asset. Put your time, effort and money into training, grooming, and encouraging your greatest asset”.

Warren Buffett said that your greatest asset is your lifetime earning potential, not your house!

Take time to consider the following questions:

  • What are you good at doing?
  • What are you passionate about?
  • What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
  • What service would you or do you offer to people for free, just because it’s fun?
  • What would you do with the rest your life if you won the lottery tomorrow?

You may take it for granted that you are very good with children, cars, dogs or you have a special skill like writing, speaking, knitting, photography, relationships and dating, buying and renting out property, IT or social media.

The New Information Age

We’ve had the Stone Age, the Bronze Age, the Industrial Age. Now, the new Information Age and digital economy is upon us.

People want information and solutions to their problems, they want it fast and they are willing to pay for it.

In the old economy, when you wanted to start a business you needed physical things like premises, phone switchboard systems, shops, staff, websites, office equipment and so on.

If you wanted to get your story published, you’d have to convince a publisher or magazine to print it for you.

If you wanted to be on television or radio, you had to approach media companies to give you a “break”.

In the new economy, you no longer need any of the above and you can by-pass the gatekeepers and go straight to your market.

You can start a business from your home with a laptop or even a smart phone. You don’t even need an old-style expensive website anymore.

You can publish articles on your own blogs, e-books and print-on-demand physical books and sell them on Amazon.

You can have your own TV channel on YouTube or Facebook and broadcast your own radio show on Podcasts on itunes.

These media markets are no longer the poor relation of the “mainstream” media. Many YouTube broadcasters get bigger audiences and followings than some terrestrial television shows. Self-published books sell tens of thousands of copies (and the writer gets a much larger cut of the profits) and are increasingly the first choice of non-fiction authors.

You don’t have to take my word for it, just look at the falling profits of old school media companies that have failed to adapt to the new age.

Today, you have the power to sell your knowledge directly to your market and help them solve their problems. Remember the old saying, customers don’t want a half inch drill bit, they want a half inch hole!

Large numbers of people all over the world are already monetising their knowledge, talent and skills in e-books, blogs, courses, public speaking and coaching.

Friends of mine coach clients locally and on the other side of the world, and also offer physical and digital courses online.

They’re not all fabulously rich - although one 21 year old college dropout friend makes more money in a month teaching social media and Facebook advertising strategies than most people do in a year - but they are living the life they designed and are no longer exchanging their time for money in a job they hate. Like me, they're out of the rat race and living life on their own terms.

One of my mentors, Jim Rohn, would say: “Working hard on your job will make you a living, but working hard on yourself will make you a fortune.”

Start thinking about what you really want? Write it down right now and design your ideal life. Stop what you’re doing and take a few minutes to write down some life goals. Don’t worry about the ‘how’ for now, just find your ‘why’ and the ‘how’ will come.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be coming back to this and showing you how to find your market, how to advertise directly and cheaply to your ideal dream clients, how to write books easily and fast, how to start selling your services online without a website or expensive web designers.

I will also be sharing some of my best contacts. The very the people who have helped and mentored me.

Money Tips Daily - Make Sure You Get Enough Sleep

Welcome to Money Tips Daily this is Money Kelly bringing you money tips to help you save and make more money!

I trust your weekend is going well? You might be staying up late and enjoying a lie-in after a tiring week, which brings me on to today’s tip, which is about energy management and sleep.

Make Sure You Get Enough Sleep.

Did you know that sleep deprivation could kill you faster than food starvation? People have survived without food for more than 30 days, but the longest known case of going without sleep is just 11 days. Going without sleep for 24 hours leave your mind and decision making capabilities similar to someone who is intoxicated and a day longer and you will experience an altered state of mind.

Depriving people of sleep is a known torture and interrogation technique and there are documented cases of people have signed confessions to crimes they didn’t commit, some of whom would face the death penalty, just to get some sleep!

These are extreme examples, but we all know that when we do not get a good night’s sleep, we not only lack energy and drive, but also make poor decisions. You cannot put energy into your work or business if you are fatigued and those who try eventually burn out.

Lack of sleep has also been linked to poor physical and mental health and weight problems.

Most people need 7-8 hours of sleep to function normally and productively – how can you be productive and on top of your game if you’re tired? The old adage of one hour before midnight is worth two after may have some truth in it. Have you ever gone to bed late and slept in until mid-morning on weekends, yet still felt tired or experience headaches?

I know some of us, like me, are night Owls and some of us are Larks who effortlessly wake up fresh at dawn, but if you are employed and your day starts at 8.30am, you’d better get yourself into a productive routine, or change careers.

Waking up late, or pressing the snooze button for 30 minutes may make you skip breakfast or even a shower and toilet routine.

Don’t be like the person rushing in late to work or a meeting looking dishevelled, disorganised and holding a half eaten energy bar!

You know that when you get up late, because you stayed up late and failed to prepare for the next day, you are probably going to have “one of those days”. The car won’t start or is low on fuel, traffic problems, no parking spaces, late train or forgetting that file you needed for the meeting.

Get up early enough to meditate and look forward to the day ahead, exercise or stretch, hydrate your body and eat a healthy breakfast, shower and dress for success.

There are numerous techniques and websites offering tips and advice on getting a good night’s sleep. Here’s a summary of the best tips.

Try setting a regular bedtime.

Have a wind-down time and routine where you avoid eating, drinking alcohol, watching television, news, social media or reading all the bad news in the newspaper for at least a good two to three hours before turning in.

Stick to the bedtime routine and stop watching late night movies or sport on TV. Record programmes you feel you can’t miss or watch on catch-up TV.

Enjoy some quiet time relaxing or meditating on the things you are thankful for that day, for instance. “I am grateful that my day went well and in particular I......”.

Your day begins the night before.

You could also offload things which are running around in your head about the day ahead by making a quick list or plan for the following day, and organising your things in advance.

Your bedroom should be a peaceful, clean, clutter free haven, which is ventilated and not too warm or cold. Keep the room dark and protected from light which can disturb your sleep.

Keep smart phones, laptops and TV’s switched off and away from your pillow – I know how hard it is to say goodnight to my iphone! Some experts recommend switching off the power on phones (and any electrical appliances) and using an old fashioned alarm clock to wake you up.

Try these tips for 30 days and make a note of how you feel.
