Retire Young And Rich Through Internet Marketing Schemes

Bombarded with emails promising you that you can 'retire young and rich' through using their marketing internet scheme, or you can 'get out of the rat race' with this or that automated online system? And were you, like I was, often disappointed when you clicked on the 'buy now' button only to find it was some complicated software that failed to bring in an avalanche of income - partly because you never understood how to use it?

Over the years I have researched and tried a number of different online marketing programs (invariably from America), courses and blogging with varying degrees of success. I have made money from the internet, but never quite found the nirvana product that could earn you money while you sleep or lie on a beach with your laptop - personally I can't read the screen in bright sunshine!

Also, some of the methods I used 5 years ago were no longer bringing in the same results. I needed to upgrade my skills and knowledge as the market had moved on. At this point I was beginning to wonder if it was really possible to earn a living and 'retire' though online marketing.

Then one evening on a crowded train from London I picked up a copy of the Evening Standard and saw a piece about a British guy, Andrew Reynolds, giving away a free copy of his best selling book, 'Copy This Idea'.

There was a picture of a man relaxing under a palm tree on a tropical beach with his laptop. The headline read:

'Is this the lazy man's way to make money? Free Book''.

Well, that grabbed my attention! I'm pretty lazy, I want to make money and I like free stuff!

Copy This Idea' tells the story of how, starting from nothing in his spare bedroom in Surrey, Andrew Reynolds made £50 million from home-based businesses and online marketing. I wanted to know more about this guy.

I quickly ordered a free copy of 'Copy This Idea', paying a not unreasonable £1 charge for postage, and was then offered an upgrade to a internet marketing course and newsletter on a free trial money back guarantee basis. "What the heck" I said to myself and clicked the order button.

A few days later I received the free paperback book in the post, along with a set of DVD's and module 1 of the Cash on Demand internet marketing course. All looking good so far, the book is very interesting, the course looks great and at this point I haven't paid a penny for them (apart from the £1 postage fee). In theory, I could even copy everything and return the whole lot for a full refund! But I don't.

A few weeks later I get the opportunity to meet the £50 million man, along with 3000 other people, at his Entrepreneur Boot Camp in Brighton.

Why give a way a book that sells in WH Smith and Amazon for £9.99? In a nutshell, the free book offer is a way of building a database of more customer, which is fair enough in my book, pardon the pun!

There were other great speakers at the boot camp all talking about home-based business ideas and making money from: online trading, social media and buy-to-let properties with no money down - one of the speakers has built a portfolio 400 buy-to-let properties without using a penny of his own money! I booked a place on his course on the spot.

One of the most interesting speakers was Simon Coulson who runs the Internet Business School from a farm house in Kent. In fact it's the actual farm used for the TV series The Darling Buds of May, which launched the career of movie star and wife of Michael Douglas Catherine Zeta Jones.

What I liked about Simon was that, unlike some companies, he offered a full range of courses (online and residential) on everything from getting started online to Facebook and social media, LinkedIn, email marketing, Amazon and more. His courses can be a taken online to a full 3 day live residential Internet Diploma course on the Darling Buds of May farm, which I am doing, He was the only one who offers ncfe accredited UK diploma courses.

Although he has shared the stage with the likes of Richard Branson, Lord Sugar, Tony Robbins and Brian Tracey, and made over £10 million from internet marketing, Simon concentrated on content rather than hype. He now teaches others how to do what he learned through trial and error.

The guys on his stand were former students now making their living full-time online, as well as teaching some of the courses. That impressed me because they could answer any question, knew what they were talking about and were generous with advice.

So can you really make a living or retire through online or internet marketing working from a home-based business? Having doubted this a few months ago I am now convinced that you can work from home and make money online provided you have the right internet training and support, and products to market. If you try tinker at it on your own you will not make it. Nearly all businesses use the internet these days, so it's not some obscure idea. The internet boom is only just starting, according to the experts, and we can all ride the next wave.
